Botanical Republic is a Los Angeles-based plant-based skincare brand created for women 35+ navigating the changes that come with aging skin, including dryness, increased sensitivity, loss of elasticity, and hormonal skin shifts. Our formulas focus on deep hydration, barrier support, antioxidant care, and long-term skin resilience, without hormone-disrupting ingredients.
Every formula is developed with high-performing botanical ingredients selected for their purpose, quality, and compatibility with evolving skin. From antioxidant-rich plant oils and extracts to organic hydrosols, Botanical Republic takes a thoughtful, ingredient-conscious approach to skincare without unnecessary complexity. Products are made in small batches in our Los Angeles studio lab to maintain freshness and quality.
Founded and formulated by Hannah Kim, Botanical Republic was created from the belief that women should not have to choose between sophisticated, results-focused skincare and formulas that align with a more ingredient-conscious lifestyle. The result is elevated botanical skincare designed for real skin as it changes through the 30's, 40's, 50's, and beyond.
Founding Story
Botanical Republic began with an unexpected career change. Founder and formulator Hannah Kim spent years working as a green technology consultant specializing in sustainability, frequently traveling throughout Asia and working demanding hours. By her early 40's, the pace had taken a toll on both her health and her skin, which had become increasingly dry, dull, and reactive.
After leaving consulting in 2018, Hannah became deeply interested in skincare ingredients and began researching botanical oils, extracts, and formulation. She invested her own savings, transformed her home office into a development lab, and began formulating. Her early experiments were far from perfect, so she eventually brought in a cosmetic chemist and continued testing and refining the formulas. One of those formulations became Regenerate Reviving Serum, now one of Botanical Republic's signature products.
Botanical Republic officially launched in January 2020 with a mission to create sophisticated plant-based skincare without hormone-disrupting ingredients. Today, Hannah continues to formulate for the same woman she understands firsthand: a woman whose skin is changing with age and who wants effective skincare without compromising what matters to her. At 50, Hannah is also her own customer.

Hannah Kim is the Founder and Formulator of Botanical Republic, a Los Angeles-based plant-based skincare brand created for women 35+ and evolving skin. Before entering the beauty industry, Hannah worked as a green technology consultant specializing in sustainability, a career that involved extensive international travel and demanding hours. After experiencing significant changes in her own skin in her early 40s, she began studying botanical ingredients and cosmetic formulation, eventually transforming her home office into a development lab and working alongside an experienced cosmetic chemist to refine her formulas.
In January 2020, Hannah launched Botanical Republic with a focus on thoughtfully formulated skincare made with high-quality plant-based ingredients and without hormone-disrupting ingredients. Now 50 and a Gen X founder, she brings both personal experience and a formulator's perspective to the changing skincare needs of women in their 30's, 40's, 50's, and beyond. Her approach centers on simplifying skincare while supporting hydration, the skin barrier, antioxidant care, and healthy-looking skin as it evolves with age.
