Mugsy is a men’s clothing brand on a mission to make style more comfortable. Best known for its ultra-comfortable, stretchy jeans, Mugsy creates everyday clothing using performance stretch fabrics designed to combine softness, durability and a great fit. What started with denim has grown into a full lineup of jeans, chinos, pants, shorts, shirts, outerwear and more all built around the belief that guys shouldn’t have to choose between looking good and feeling comfortable.
Founding Story
Mugsy was founded by Leo Tropeano after a coworker finally told him that the baggy, straight-leg jeans he had been wearing didn’t look great. When he went searching for a slimmer, more stylish pair, he found that everything he tried was too tight and uncomfortable. Rather than compromise, he set out to create jeans that delivered on three things: supreme comfort, a clean and stylish fit, and enough room where it matters. After years of working with industry experts, testing thousands of fabrics and traveling around the world, he developed the super-stretch denim that became the foundation of Mugsy.

Leo Tropeano is the founder and CEO of Mugsy, the Chicago-based men’s clothing brand known for combining comfort with modern style. Before entering the apparel industry, Leo studied accountancy at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business and began his career as a CPA at PwC.
The idea for Mugsy came after Leo moved to New York and struggled to find jeans that offered both a modern fit and genuine comfort. With no previous experience in apparel, he began learning the industry, working with experts and testing fabrics and prototypes to develop a stretch denim that could deliver both. Mugsy officially launched its current line online in November 2016 and has since expanded from jeans into a broader men’s lifestyle clothing brand.
In 2025, Leo was named an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Midwest Award winner.
